Sixth Avenue United Church is a congregation of the United Church of Christ. We are an open and affirming congregation. That means that we welcome all people regardless of race, age, gender, sexual orientation, and disability. We have a strong tradition of openness towards a diversity of beliefs about God and the role of religion in our everyday lives. Sixth Avenue participates in a number of local and global mission projects, providing immediate assistance and working toward long-term solutions. Projects include collecting food donations for Denver Inner City Parish, which serves the homeless and others in need, participating in AIDS Walk Colorado, Pride Fest, and the Marade, and providing a site for the Women’s Homelessness Initiative.
Sixth Avenue has been serving the Capitol Hill and Cherry Creek communities for over 100 years, providing a place to worship and to gather. Our building hosts many activities of our community, such as Pax Christi ecumenical Catholic parish and the Denver Potters Guild semi-annual sale. Our facility is home to a number of other groups, such as Starflower preschool, Between the Bones dance troupe, Music Together (parent and child music), Axis Yoga training, and more.
Our building is available for a variety of uses: weddings, music and theater programs, retreats, memorials, and small to medium size meetings. As a community resource, we offer space for rent at reasonable prices. We have several meeting rooms, a gymnasium, and an industrial kitchen, perfect for preparing luncheons and dinners.
If you like to know more, stop by some Sunday for worship at 10:00 AM, and stay for our coffee hour afterwards. Or call 303.377.0173 for office hours or to make an appointment. If you prefer, you can click here to email your inquiry to Sixth Avenue United Church.
